THE NGO “SAVE NIGERIA ROADS INITIATIVE”

This is an organization whose primary objective is to help the government in promoting economic development typically in the area of environment. The love for human race and a better means of livelihood triggers my emotion to creating this NGO in the interest of the government of the day and for the nearest future and benefit of mankind.
Lagos state is the commercial nerve centre of the most populous black nation of the world with investments opportunities growing by the day. Nigerian government as a matter of fact has a roadmap which definitely makes provision for the improvement of the commerce industry. The responsibilities of the government  solely rest upon the shoulders of our administrators whose resources are not enough to handle the numerous projects that are waiting to be executed.
One of such projects is a 10-lane Lagos-Badagry expressway that is  arguably going to be the best in west Africa sub-region. It has until recent times turned into nightmare for motorists and commuters. The reasons are not far to seek. They include primarily, the fact that there is hardly a decent 50 meter stretch of the Mile Two-Badagry Expressway, Lagos without potholes and craters of different sizes. The heavy rains too, have only worsened the situation and not helped by drivers who do all manners of things, such as driving against the traffic and stopping wherever they choose for passengers to alight or board the vehicle.
From Maza Maza, through to Agboju, Satellite Town, Ojo Cantonment, Okokomaiko, Afromedia, Vespa, Ijanikin, Morogbo, Oko Afo, Apata, Ibereko, Torikoh and further down to Badagry, the road has deteriorated to such a sorry state, bringing much hardship to road users and residents.
With the rains compounding the problem, the road is now so bad that only trucks with bigger axles and tyres risk the flooded potholes and craters. Trucks bringing goods through the land border (Seme Border) are not spared on this road as they get trapped into some of the potholes and craters, which subsequently leads to the frequent situation of collapse of the the trucks and their goods. Once this happens, there is usually obstructions of traffic and agonizing gridlock starts and last till when the obstruction is removed. Inhabitants of this axis of Lagos now travel hours for their various appointments as a result of the state of the road.
“and that is the painful circle that is usually experienced on this roads and many other roads in the state”
Miscreants and robbers have taken advantage of the situation on this road to rob commuters and motorists of their belongings.
we do not have to wait until the government put things in order, hence the thought to assist the government with the repairs of some of the bad portions of the roads until a major work is carried out.
This would go a long way to bringing most road users to check by our Law enforcement agencies on the road. This would also reduce to the barest minimal various crimes committed by the miscreants on our road. Let us save our roads for the sake of economic growth.
